The Portuguese Azores islands are located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, about 1500 Km from the Portuguese mainland.
The volcanic origin of all the islands is revealed by their volcanic cones and craters. SaoMiguel, the largest island
in the archipelego of the Azores, is composed of two volcanic massifs. Explore the craters of Sete Cidades,
Fogo, and Furnas and see magnificent emerald green and sapphire blue lakes. There's no shortage of wonders on the islands. Whether you're
wandering the stunning landscape or enjoying historic towns paved in cobblestone, the Azores will continue to surprise and amaze you.
It takes approximately two hours flying time from Lisbon and five hours from the eastern coast of North America. If you're travelling
from Canada, there are regular charter flights from Montreal and Toronto. If you're travelling
from the United States, most flights come from Boston, a city with a large Azorean population.
For more information on the Azores, we recommend visiting the Azores Bureau of Tourism.
